Today, I will remind you of your important job in the English language. You are my wonderful conjunctions, and your task is to connect words, phrases, and ideas. Let\u2019s introduce ourselves!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FOR:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>For<\/em>! I explain reasons. Like\u2014&#8217;She stayed inside, <em>for<\/em> it was raining.&#8217; I connect ideas by showing the cause!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AND:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>And<\/em>! I add things together. &#8216;I like apples <em>and<\/em> oranges.&#8217; I make sure ideas are connected smoothly!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOR:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>Nor<\/em>! I join negative ideas. &#8216;She doesn\u2019t like coffee, <em>nor<\/em> does she drink tea.&#8217; I make sure neither choice is accepted!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BUT:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>But<\/em>! I show contrast. &#8216;She wanted to play, <em>but<\/em> it was too late.&#8217; I help when things don\u2019t go the same way!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>OR:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>Or<\/em>! I give choices. &#8216;Do you want tea <em>or<\/em> coffee?&#8217; I make sure people have options!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YET:<\/strong><br>&#8220;I am <em>Yet<\/em>! I also show contrast, but in a surprising way! &#8216;It was cold, <em>yet<\/em> he didn\u2019t wear a coat.&#8217; I make things interesting!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SO:<\/strong><br>&#8220;And finally, I am <em>So<\/em>! F for For, A for And, N for Nor, B for But, O for Or, Y for Yet, and S for So. Whenever you need to join two ideas, think of my seven children, and they will help you!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Student (excitedly):<\/strong><br>&#8220;I get it now! FANBOYS are the <strong>glue <\/strong>that connects ideas in sentences!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(The FANBOYS cheer and dance as the scene ends, and Ms. Conjunction winks at the audience.)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ms. Conjunction:<\/strong><br>&#8220;Remember, my dear learners, conjunctions make your sentences stronger.
